Friday Favorites

April 9th, 2021

Did you know that April 15th is more than just Tax Day?! It’s also World Art Day. Since its creation in 2019, the aim of World Art Day is to “reinforce the links between artistic creations and society, encourage greater awareness of the diversity of artistic expressions and highlight the contribution of artists to sustainable development”. In celebration of this awesome holiday, you can support independent artists via these sites.

  1. Etsy. Okay, this one feels like it’s cheating. But a lot of people don’t know that you can find original artwork on Etsy!

  2. Society6 is one of the coolest sites on the internet. Like many of the sites on today’s list, this site allows artists and designers to upload their original artwork and customers to choose the final product. Love that photo of the mountains? You can order it as a 24x36 on canvas, an 18x24 framed print, or heck, even a clock!

  3. Minted takes it one step further and also allows customers to commission original artwork for their homes.

  4. Fine Art America offers customers the chance to shop curated collections, which takes the guesswork out shopping for multiple pieces.

  5. And Artfinder.com allows customers to easily filter their inventory to find the perfect original piece. I particularly like their selection of sculptures.

  6. And finally, Spoonflower. While they don’t sell fine art, you can order original wallpaper and fabric for a fully customized space.

Shopping from independent artists and designers ensures your home will be unique, and you’ll have the added satisfaction of knowing you’re helping to support their dream.
